Holiday for head, body and soul!
Julia´s Guesthouse stands for comfort and secureness.
The name of the house is Hnaus, which means Earthhill. It stands in an oasis of fertile land, surrounded by little grasshills and wood.
Julia´s Guesthouse is ideal in the way that it offers peace, relaxation and recreation and it offers all travelers a good starting position for day trips in all directions, for example Golden Circle (the stunning Geysir, the amazing Gullfoss Waterfall, the famous National Park Thingvellir, and the almost hidden Volcanic crater Kerið), Reykjavik, Reykjanes peninsula, the Highlands pearl Landmannalaugar, several natural hot water pools as well as the Vestman Islands alongside the interesting south coast with Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss up to the cozy town of Vík! Also the famous Laki-craters and the beautiful Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon are possible to reach from here! We are happy to help with the selection and planning of the many excursions. Around 12 km away from the Guesthouse is the town of Selfoss, where you have many shopping possibilities.
About 1o minutes drive from the Guesthouse flows the river Þjórsá forcefully and passes the Urriðafoss, the water-richest waterfall in Iceland (360m3 /s) and invites you to relax and walk alongside and to take amazing pictures, of course.
What can you see around Julia´s Guesthouse: In the south you have the view of the well-known Eyjafjallajökull and Tindfjallajökull,in good weather conditions you can even see the big Myrdalsjökull Glacier and the Vestman Islands! In the east you can see the majestic volcano Hekla, snow-covered in the middle of the southwest country. In the north you can see the Ingolfsfjall mountain and the highland mountains with the big Langjökull Glacier and in the west, southwest you can see plains, sunsets and there is a nice and mysterious hill just next to the Guesthouse (maybe an elveshill?)!
In Julia´s Guesthouse live Filou, Nero and Snúlla, two male cats and one female cat, who like to stroll around but also enjoy the warmth of the house in the fall and wintertime and they are accompanied by our 2 budgies Timmy and Polly!
In the small, cozy chickenbarn are 14 chicken and the rooster Gionny! Of course, all the chicken have a name too and if you are lucky Frida flies on your shoulder and likes to be fed with fine oatmeal! So there is a good chance of a fresh “home-made” egg for breakfast!
Verið velkomin, a warm and heartily welcome in Julia´s Guesthouse!
